SEVERED
HISTORY
Severed. The current name of the band which has
been through many changes in members, names and styles in the short period in which it has existed.
The guitarists, Chalky and Lee, over 3 years ago,
were requested to do a performance at a school fair. This sparked a great musical relationship between the duo and they decided
to try and set up a band. Early attempts were flawed, with a bassist joining and leaving, and other people trying to muscle
their way in.
A year later and a year's worth better, Chalky
and Lee met the members of the band Mobius Trip. Mobius' singer at this time was Stubbz. At the same time, Chalky and
Lee had formed a band with a drummer and female vocalist, doing, mainly, Red Hot Chili Peppers. This was short lived and died
out within a couple of months. Stubbz joined Chalky and Lee (then called White Heat) for a short period of time
but left to rjoin mobius trip.
Lee and Chalky took about six monthsimproving their
guitaring skills and learning almost 20 KoRn song. Nearing the end of 2001, they decided to try to form a band once again.
Stubbz had now turned to being a drummer and soon
the trio hit rehearsals for an end of year gig. This collaboration worked well, but they didn't make the deadline for the
performance. Lee's brother Steve had been attending these rehearsals as the singer and mutually joined the band over christmas.
Stubbz took a little more persuading to leave Mobius trip, but joined in late January 2002. Tom Mee, then manager
of Severed decided to take up playing the bass to fill the vacant slot in the Severed line-up. Tom was an overnight bass
success and was keeping up with the pace of the band.
May 24th 2002 came though and Stubbz left the band
to the joy of the remaining four band members. Stubbz had strangled the other member's creativity and hopes and the drummer
to fulfill these hopes would be Tim Murray. Tim joined the moment Stubbz left. Tim has been one of the hardest working
members of the band, starting playing the drums two months prior to Gigs in the Hall and then playing perfectly and professionally
in the performances. This line up has gelled perfectly and hopefully will stay together for a long time to come.
